LUNGSMAN

The Lungsman began with no specific concept in mind but was designed on the fly due to a short four week deadline. The piece began with a conceptual clay helmet sculpt which was then molded and cast in fiberglass. The main section of the helmet was iterated upon using various bodyshopping techniques until an acceptable look was achieved. A silicone and fiberglass matrix mold was created of the fiberglass master, semi rigid plastic castings were created, then, 3D printed accessories and fitting were attached. The chest armor, pauldrons, and gauntlets were sculpted/modeled in Zbrush and resin printed. Brush on silicone molds were made and semi rigid plastic copies were produced of the armor pieces.

The helmet and various armor pieces were then metalized using Alumiluster along with a 2K automotive paint, layers of color and distressing were created using a combination of acrylic, oil, and alcohol paints/dyes.

Soft parts were sown using various types of breathable mesh to create an illusion of depth and opaqueness.
